Colorado 2024, Part 3: Museums

Previously, I told you other things we did in Colorado(see Colorado 2024 Part 1 and Part 2).

Raptor Education Foundation

Today, I went with Aria and one of her friends to an open house at the Raptor Education Foundation.

Here’s a sample of the raptors that we were able to meet. Each of them are here because of some injury or circumstances:

Red-shouldered hawk
Peregrine Falcon
Prairie Falcon
Gyrfalcon
Golden Eagle
Bald Eagle
Turkey Buzzard
American Kestrel
Eurasian Kestrel
American White Pelican
Eastern Screech Owl

Wings Over the Rockies

On Monday, Aria had class, so I occupied myself with a visit to a different form of aviation entertainment: the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum. There were dozens of aircraft on display, mostly from the jet era. Since I had plenty of time, I stopped to read EVERY placard on EVERY air/space craft. I did not take pictures of everything, though.

This is a look across the hangar, capturing maybe 1/3 of the collection.

A6 Intruder

And another shot, sort of down the right side of the previous picture:

B1B- Lancer

But they had a special exhibit while I there: props or models of props from Star Wars!

X-Wing Fighter
Anakin Skywalker’s Podracer
