Last night, we arrived at La Quinta Sarapiqui Lodge<\/a>, so named because it is close to the Sarapiqui River, where we would be white water rafting later today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lodge is amazing, and again, just enough land was cleared to make room for the lodge. Even after that, the spaces in between the cabins were planted with native plants, with narrow walkways so the tourists can walk through the miniature forests and explore the wildlife. Our tour companion, Stuart, captured this picture of a red-eyed tree frog before we went to bed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before heading to bed, we were informed that the lodge has a Bird Theater, where food is placed out at 6am each morning, to entice wild birds in the area stop in to feed. So Cyndi and I got up early and went to the theater before breakfast. We were not disappointed, despite the light rain that greeted us:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m particularly proud of this shot. I’ve learned to become patient when shooting, and waited for this Gray-headed Chachalaca to fly from his perch to the food. This makes him look like an apex predator. Cyndi says she can clearly see the dinosaur roots:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
